A global conflict tracker by the Council on Foreign Relations lists 28 active conflicts across the world. These conflicts show that the world is going through many small and big wars at the same time. While each war has its own local reasons, many of them are also connected through global politics, economy, and military support.

The United Nations is not entirely irrelevant but is having difficulties in coping with the new realities that confront it in terms of geopolitics. While the ideals that were set out at the beginning are still relevant, there is a need to reform the structure and operation of the United Nations.

After two long years of intense fighting between Israel and Hamas, a new ceasefire agreement was reached in October 2025, thanks to mediation by the DonaldTrump-led United States and regional actors like Egypt and Qatar.

The year 2025 will be remembered for wars, tensions, and uncertainty. There were no big victories or lasting peace deals made and conflicts caused suffering to millions of people around the globe.
